Books Can Be Extremely Helpful to Achieve Business Success
“The Importance of Books in Business” by Reece Samuels
“The man who does not read good books is no better than the man who can’t.” – Mark Twain.
In an age where there is an abundance of information and disinformation, it is often difficult to grasp the right knowledge to help us in our professional and enterprising endeavours. This begs two even greater questions, what is the ‘right’ sort of knowledge? What is a good book?
When it comes to starting your own business, there are some key principles and guidelines which you can find in classic authors such as Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill and Robert Kiyosaki. But to advance your learning to the next phase, it’s important not to perceive books as mere oracles of complete wisdom but as “mental launch pads”—kick-starters for intellectual stimulation and perhaps to spark creativity for your business further down the line.
London Business Book Club

That’s why at Westminster Business Library, starting from April, I have co-launched the London Business Book Club. Where we won’t simply be discussing the ‘right’ business books but instead having a meaningful and purposeful discussion on topics from a vast range of books – including but not limited to themes such as The Metaverse, marketing and geopolitics. Together, we will aim to expand our understanding of the business world in a jovial way and activate our own self-development through the power of networking.
The first book we will be discussing is ‘The Unfair Advantage’, winner of the Business Book Awards 2021. It is written by serial tech entrepreneur Ash Ali & startup strategist and mentor Hasan Kubba. A book that celebrates the diverse qualities that we’re all born with and how we can harness these innate characteristics to succeed at the top of our game. It’s a book that praises hard work and encourages us to understand the unfair advantages that allow everyone the ability to thrive. But, even more crucially, what is an unfair advantage?
As we move into the new financial year, learning the various strengths and weaknesses that we possess and figuring out why we are not activating them shall be a lively and fruitful discussion. Join us on Mon 4th April at 6pm, Westminster Business Library. Reserve your space here.
We look forward to seeing you.
“Books allowed me to see a world beyond the front porch of my grandmother’s shotgun house…[and] the power to see possibilities beyond what was allowed at the time.” – Oprah Winfrey.
