The Role
As we continue to expand our Autonomous Machining Team (AMT), we are looking for an experienced Automation Test Engineer.
The role will involve designing and implementing automation test frameworks, executing automated tests, debugging systems and defining corrective actions. You will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics (e.g. defect densities and open defect counts.)
The automation test engineer will be located within a small team of test engineers which enables and supports automated testing across various different software teams. The role will report to our Automation Test Manager.
To be successful as an automation test engineer, you should have extensive knowledge of automated test techniques and processes and be a great communicator. You will have proven technical skills, an appreciation for the complex nature of our industry and be comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment.
Skills and Experience sought.
● Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities using test automation guidelines.
● Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured automated test framework designs, test plans, test automation scripts and test cases
● Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements
● Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
● Investigate problems in software as a result of testing, working with QA engineers and software developers to find solutions
● Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs, performing thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
● Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
● Stay up-to-date with new automated testing tools and test strategies
QA Engineer Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in software engineering or related field.
● Track record of developing automated test frameworks and test plans for complex projects.
● Experience with Scrum and Agile methodologies.
