The Role

Fraud Analytics Lead

Starling technology works in a hybrid pattern from home and one of our three offices. We’re open to applications from across the UK. Still, our preference is that you’re located within a commutable distance to either our London, Southampton, or Cardiff office so that when we’re able to see each other and collaborate in person again, we’re ready to go!

What will you be doing?

We are looking for an experienced analytics specialist who will be focused on the development and monitoring of Starling’s fraud prevention and identification activity.

This role sits within the Analytics team, which is part of the broader data team here at Starling. As a data-driven organisation, this role will play an important part in the further development of our business.

Responsibilities

• You will be part of a team delivering data-driven solutions and insights to improve the speed, efficiency, and quality of decision-making.
• Design, refine, and optimise fraud strategies, including fraud rules and models.
• Provide insightful analytics on transactional and behavioural trends to identify fraudulent activity.
• Work proactively with technical and non-technical teams to deliver insights to support the wider business.
• Develop and maintain reporting dashboards, presenting a clear picture of the state of our business.

Requirements

What we would like from you….

• Degree in STEM (Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Economics)
• Practical experience in completing data projects using Python in an industry setting
• Used to data wrangling from semi-complex structures using SQL
• Experience using visualisation software (we use Looker)
• Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
• Experience at a fintech or other financial institution, with fraud experience being particularly desirable (but not essential)
• Self-motivated with the ability to think critically and independently.
