The Role
We are looking for a Head of Engineering with 9+ years of hands-on engineering experience, with at least 4 years in leadership roles. They should be comfortable working in the JS ecosystem and have at least 3 years of experience with Google Cloud platform. They should have proven experience in leading remote teams with cross-functional projects encompassing both front-end and back-end teams, as well as working in dynamic, startup environments.
They will also have had vast experience building state of the art consumer and developer-facing products and services as well as the deployment of APIs in Cloud environments. A suitable candidate will further have had vast experience in agile development practices and architectural knowledge of web-based and backend technologies including, but not limited to, Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, Angular, and Bash.
Our product is built around a suite of solutions that enable healthcare providers, insurance and NHS to introduce remote diagnostics into their existing patient pathways. Our toolkit is modular, enabling partners to integrate with all or specific modules of interest, such as our test management system, our patient-facing portal, or our in-clinic and mobile healthcare fleet management service.
We have a number of opportunities in the pipeline which rely on the successful deployment of different parts of the above modules, and the Head of Engineering will play a key, stakeholder-facing role in ensuring the successful delivery of these projects. The focus for development will be centered around building a state-of-the-art API-driven platform, leveraging existing off-the-shelf technologies where possible to deliver reliable and user-friendly service and allow for customer facing integration as well as with key strategic partners such as labs, manufacturing partners, and NHS. Our end product should be easily customisable by our customers to accommodate for a variety of use cases.
Responsibilities:
The Head of Engineering, in this capacity, will be responsible for the overall system development life-cycle. To contribute to moving our product forward, you will be leading on:
The day-to-day management of software development teams (internal and partner teams) and their work, ensuring they are delivering against agreed roadmaps and targets
Tasked with the planning, management, execution, and implementation of software projects, inclusive of the day-to-day project management, scope management, issue and risk management, as well as regular status reporting to the rest of the leadership team
Working closely with operations and our data engineers to develop tooling that will support our distributed test management system and our service operations
Coaching and mentoring of team members
Responsible for defining recruitment requirements and managing hiring for the development team
Ensuring optimal application of engineering resources in order to meet product development and consumer requirements and ensures the implementation of agile processes that support site/software development processes.
Reporting to our CEO, Kelly Klifa, and working with her and the strategic partnerships team on establishing business requirements and defining the product roadmap
Working closely with the product leads and UX specialists in designing, developing, and deploying scalable technologies that will lead to increased consumer satisfaction.
