The Role

We are looking for a motion designer to bring innovative craftsmanship to the team, delivering a consistent and exciting visual motion language in the Starling app. You will be reporting to our art director, working closely with a team of designers, and having a high level of collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

What you’ll do

• You will be responsible for delivering best-in-class motion design and animation primarily within the Starling app
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to bring a delightful experience to the app
• Contribute to the conception phase of briefs for social, website, and paid to advertise
• Supporting all major ad and creative campaigns
• Deliver engaging motion design and animation projects for said briefs
• Assist the team with storyboarding where needed
• Work on a fast-paced team where you may need to work on many projects at once
• Drive projects from start to finish, working collaboratively across teams on ideation, creation, and delivery
• Be an active member of the studio, sharing your knowledge and contributing to the design culture within the wider company

Requirements

What you’ll bring along

We’re open-minded when it comes to hiring and we care more about aptitude and attitude than specific experience or qualifications. Ann overview of what would be useful:

• 2+ years of professional experience in animation/motion
• Experience working with a digital product
• A portfolio of exciting and groundbreaking creative 2D work
• Fluent in After Effects, Figma and Lottie
• An understanding of C4D and knowledge of 3rd party renderers (we use octane but can get whatever render engine you’re comfortable with).
• An inquisitive, passionate, and self-motivated attitude, open to new ways of working and learning
• A thirst for knowledge; keeping up to date with digital content trends and techniques
• A strong eye for composition, colour, typography, movement, and depth
• Good timekeeping skills. Work here is fast-paced, and you’ll need to meet deadlines and demonstrate a level of flexibility to ensure work is completed on time
• Strong communication skills
• Collaborative team player and able to take feedback on board
• Ability to ask, as well as answer, meaningful and impactful questions
• Excitement for Starling – you signed up and used the product before
