Coworking Spaces in London: The Ultimate Guide for 2023
We know it’s difficult to find your dream place when it comes to choosing a workspace for your company and team as there are always different dynamics and factors to think about. We (as the SOL Editorial Team) have curated a list of London’s best and coolest coworking spaces depending on our own criteria to help you out in this process. The criteria include different factors and conditions such as location, amenities, pricing, capacity & design, activities, neighbourhood highlights and more.
Before we dive into the details, here is a message from our founder:
“We came to terms with the true value of coworking spaces when we lost our freedom to access it.
At a psychological level, working from home used to mean something entirely different. For the regular office goers among us, it used to be a sort of a break from the regular routine of getting dressed and travelling to the office most days. For the occasional coworking space dwellers, it was a good way to mix things up and socialise. It was cosy, relaxed, lazy and efficient at the same time.
That’s the thing though. Efficiency is a complex equation.
A new situation (such as unlimited flexibility to work from home) might seem to be more efficient in terms of your time and energy, at first glance. But our output is also heavily dependent on our motivation and drive. These were the ones that took the big hit. Many found themselves having more time, but less motivation to work and create.
The research shows your motivation is closely tied to your habits, daily routines, and interactions. A particularly enlightening read on this was James Clear’s Atomic Habits. One key takeaway is that new habit building is incredibly expensive for the human brain. Combine this with the fact that we have only a limited pool of willpower to last us throughout the day, you have a challenging situation.
In a counter-intuitive way (for most people and most of the time), spending the extra energy to get dressed, travel to a coworking space or an office, and place yourself in a social setting means you have more – not less – willpower left at the end of the day in your reserves. By spending more energy, you end up with more energy!
Of course, on top of the benefits in the psychology and habit domains, there are the physical and then the hormonal benefits to moving about more and interacting with other people.
The serendipitous interactions, unforced chats, small sparks of inspiration, easily getting feedback, attempting to crack a problem with your desk mates, and feeling part of a community are all more natural and easier when you share a physical space.
Lockdowns and restrictions have a purpose. We all have our roles to play. If we want to call ourselves a functioning society. But remember, this too shall pass! And once you are ready to cohabit a coworking space in London, you can use this guide to find the best one for you.
Enjoy our comprehensive research.”

Table of Contents
After reviewing the long list of alternative workspaces based in London, we’ve come up with the top coworking spaces according to our own criteria. Since we know it’s not enough to have one or two factors to evaluate a place, we’ve considered other factors which we believe have an impact on companies’ productivity. So, here you have the list of the best coworking spaces including the details from location and pricing to capacity & design to amenities and activities and more!
We evaluated different factors when scoring different criteria. For example, we considered which rail transportation zone the coworking space is, and how long does it take to reach the closest rail transportation station by foot whilst we score the location criteria. Or, pricing criteria did not only include how economic the coworking space’s membership offers are but also how flexible they are, and how many options they offer was important too.
After scoring different criteria, we calculated the average score and placed the coworking spaces in different tiers; which are S (Superb), A (Very Good), B (Good), and C (Okay). We didn’t use D and E tiers since this is a list of the best coworking spaces. We included tier C because the coworking spaces in this tier have some great features, so they deserve to be on this list.
This is a live list that is regularly updated, if you want your coworking space listed, reach out to us at hello@startupsoflondon.com.

What Is A Coworking Space?
Coworking spaces are collaborative office environments for start-ups, small businesses, remote workers and freelancers to rent desk space in a professional environment, often with facilities such as wifi and printers. These communal offices are popular in London and other big cities, especially for young professionals. Mainly used by members of the creative industries working for small start-up companies or as freelancers, coworking spaces provide an interesting alternative to traditional workplaces in large cities. There are several coworking spaces in the UK to choose from including WeWork, Arboretum, Forge & Co., and more…
The coworking concept allows small start-up companies, entrepreneurs, consultants, digital marketers and independent contractors to rent out desk space in a professional environment. It’s the ideal way for them to get started without having to worry about the cost, so they can concentrate on running their business.
Benefits Of Coworking Spaces
Many people are nowadays opting for coworking spaces because of the wonderful benefits that they provide. A coworking space can help you save some money and allow you to stay productive as well as social.
Networking
This is an obvious benefit. You work with other people, so you can network and participate in community events. These people can be in the same industry or connect with people with other interests.
Reduce Loneliness
Remote workers spend a lot of time alone. When you work in your home or your office, it is unlikely to meet other people and have a friendly conversation. Coworking spaces allow you to connect with other people.
Increased Productivity
It is easier to stay focused on an environment that you visit only to work. If you work at home, you will find yourself distracted by different things. You may get distracted from your kids, pets, spouse, or different small tasks in your house.
Flexibility
Coworking spaces are quite flexible. You can cancel your membership and go back to your home office or try another service. So, there is not a big commitment to testing a coworking space.
Cost-Effective
Whether you are a remote worker or have a team that works with you, a coworking space will cost less money than renting your own office. You need to pay only for the space you use, and it is possible to offer you flexible agreements.
6 Things to Consider While Choosing a Coworking Space in 2021
Location
You can start with coworking spaces in your area. If they are too far from your home or your customers, you may need to avoid them. So, figure out your ideal location first.
Environment
Your environment affects your productivity. You need to check the desks, chairs, lights, and the setup of the coworking space. Most coworking spaces make you feel comfortable, but this is not always the case.
Amenities and Perks
You will spend a lot of time in a coworking space, so you can consider the available amenities and perks. For example, they can include free water and coffee, parking, printing equipment, conference rooms, office supplies, etc.
Coworkers
One of the main benefits of coworking spaces is the ability to network. So, you need a space where you can make connections. If you are lucky, you can find new clients as well.
Security
You must feel safe from cyber threats and things that can happen in a place with many people. Coworking spaces can include cyber security tools and software including cameras, visitor management, and a secure network.
Cost
Before choosing a coworking space, you need to know how much it costs. You can also compare a few options to make sure that you choose the best one. Coworking spaces in London start from £200 per month, but the price can go up as you have more benefits. Some coworking spaces make annual plans that allow you to save more money.
